This is another in the rapidly expanding Zvezda range of small game pieces for their Art of Tactic series which includes true 1/72 scale figures that can be of use to the wider modelling community. Here we find four figures which represent German reconnaissance, and from left to right they are a soldier writing something down, a radio operator, a man pointing and another using binoculars. Between them they make for a pretty good reconnaissance team, and as these sorts of poses are rarely included in the usual sets of 50 or so figures, they are particularly useful. The figures come with two types of base. Each can be attached to an individual base as shown in our picture, or they can be grouped together on one base, when they act as a unit marker for the game.
The poses are very good but this is achieved with a good deal of putting together separate parts. Several arms and legs are separate, so while these are superbly engineered and fit together so well they need no glue, it will take a little while to put everything in place. Although detail is generally very good, remarkably all are missing detail on their chest, despite their multi-part nature. That aside the sculpting is very good, and there is no flash etc. In general the accuracy is fine - being more appropriate for the first few years of the 39-45 war - but the prone man holding the MP38 or MP40 has his ammunition pouches at 90 degrees to the correct - i.e. the only possible - position on his straps.
