Mikhail Gorbachev has been Soviet Premiere for barely three months, but already he has disturbed those in the Politburo who wish to take a harder line against the West. Fearing loss of control and the eventual collapse of the Communist Party if the West is not confronted, these hardliners conspire with the KGB and concoct a plan to stoke the flames of war and force Gorbachev to militarily confront the West. Agents of the Soviet KGB begin running covert operations to inflame global hotspots while the Soviet military secretly builds their forces to take advantage of any chaos the KGB creates.
