Everything you need to field the Greeks in your Global War 1936 game.
During World War II, Greece played a significant role marked by heroic resistance and tragic occupation. Initially neutral, Greece was drawn into the conflict in October 1940 when Italy, under Mussolini's fascist regime, invaded from Albania. Greek forces, showing remarkable resilience, managed to push the Italians back. This success was short-lived as Nazi Germany intervened to assist its Axis ally, invading Greece in April 1941. The rapid German advance led to the occupation of the country, which was then divided among Germany, Italy, and Bulgaria. During the occupation, Greece suffered greatly with a devastating famine in the winter of 1941-1942, harsh reprisals for resistance activities, and the near-annihilation of its Jewish population in the Holocaust. The Greek Resistance, however, remained active and formidable throughout the occupation, significantly contributing to the Allied war effort. The country was liberated in October 1944, but the wartime experiences left deep scars and set the stage for a subsequent civil war.
