The S-3 was developed in response to the VSX program conducted by the U.S. Navy (USN) to procure a successor anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft to the Grumman S-2 Tracker. It was designed, with assistance from Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV), to be a carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, multi-mission aircraft. In the ASW role, the S-3 was furnished with automated weapon systems and was capable of extended missions with in-flight refueling.

These are another good addition to the line of aircraft they've been producing. It's got a nice look to it, enough detail to make it easily identifiable, and it's a good size sculpt that's easy to handle. In short, I like them.
