The Landkreuzer P.1000 Ratte was a super-heavy tank design proposed in 1942. The enormous tank would have weighted 1,000 tons and measured 35 meters. It would require a crew of at least 20 although some estimates say it would have required 41. The main armament of the Ratte were two 280mm naval guns. These were supplemented with one to two 128mm turreted anti-tank guns, eight 20mm Flak guns and two15mm machine guns. The Ratte was a heavy armor would have been impenetrable to even the heavies American or Soviet tanks. The vehicle would have had two motorcycles used for scouting located in a vehicle bay. Even at this size, the Ratte could make 25mph. Yet, a tank of such proportions had draw backs equal to its size. Its very movement would tear up the roads it travelled on. The Ratte could not cross most bridges although it could likely ford rivers instead. Its width and weight would have made it impossible to transport on railways or ships.
