The Renault FT (frequently referred to in post-World War I literature as the FT-17, FT17, or similar) was a French light tank that was among the most revolutionary and influential tank designs in history.[citation needed] The FT was the first production tank to have its armament within a fully rotating turret. The Renault FT's configuration (crew compartment at the front, engine compartment at the back, and main armament in a revolving turret) became and remains the standard tank layout. Consequently, some historians of armoured warfare have called the Renault FT the world's first modern tank.

Over 3,000 Renault FT tanks were manufactured by French industry, most of them in 1918. After World War I, FT tanks were exported in large numbers. Copies and derivative designs were manufactured in the United States (M1917 light tank), in Italy (Fiat 3000) and in the Soviet Union (T-18 tank). The Renault FT saw combat during the interwar conflicts around the world, but was considered obsolete at the outbreak of World War II.

I am super happy with these tanks. The description is dead on. I really love the change of pace of Axis and Allies 1914, especially since were in the centennial of the great war period. But the unit diversity was just rubbish in the standard release and these units add much needed diversity to the game. I hope they do some artillery and aircraft as well.

Amazing piece
I got 5 of these to add to my French force. I was a little uneasy without seeing a picture, but I was not disappointed! great detail. It really adds some originality to the French until the new expansion set comes out. The piece has a rough/matte finish, so make sure you prime it well before painting. most surfaces are just large enough to apply some decals too. The turret is small, so you won't be able to fit the decals in every spot you want if you are copying a specific tank's or unit's markings. however, there is enough space to put a small roundel and platoon marking in some of the historically correct spots.

They are small and wonderful. I am glad they are made, but only as glad as is justifiable for the making of a small toy.

I was slightly skeptical about this, as there isn't a picture to go on. But I was not disappointed! Detail is very good, even around the tracks and the turret. Color is not an exact match, but close enough for me
