Buffalo Soldier

Buffalo Soldiers is the name associated with African American regular Army units established after the American Civil War, particularly cavalry and infantry regiments serving on the western frontier. They also took part in later American military operations, including the Spanish-American War period. Their history includes both professional service and the discrimination of a segregated army. The 9th and 10th Cavalry and the Black infantry regiments served despite segregation and discrimination. Their service included frontier campaigning and later overseas conflicts. The regiments served on the western frontier and in later overseas campaigns. Their military duties existed alongside the discrimination imposed by segregation within the United States Army.
