C.S.S. Monterey Battlecruiser CSS
A Confederate battlecruiser named Monterey is an alternate-history naval subject, not a documented capital ship of the American Civil War. The historical Confederate States ended in 1865, decades before the battlecruiser concept emerged. Its interpretation can draw inspiration from later fast capital ships, but its construction, armament, campaigns, and service must remain fictional unless the game’s setting explicitly defines them. It should not borrow the record of the real United States monitor Monterey, a different vessel and historical context. The CSS prefix invokes the Confederate States Navy, but battlecruisers belong to a later technological generation than the historical Confederacy. An imagined surviving state could possess such a vessel only within an alternate chronology. Its guns, machinery, and service must therefore be treated as fictional design choices rather than borrowed from an actual Confederate warship.
