D6 Bomb Dice
Aerial bombing developed from improvised attacks in early military aviation into a major element of warfare during the First and Second World Wars. Aircraft carried bombs against troop concentrations, transport links, ships, factories, and cities, with sharply different effects depending on height, visibility, accuracy, and opposition. During the Second World War, large bomber forces conducted sustained campaigns while smaller formations supported battlefield operations. The United States Army Air Forces emphasized daylight attacks against industrial targets, though weather and enemy defenses complicated the effort. Bomb design, fuzes, navigation, reconnaissance, and crew training all influenced results. The history of bombing also includes extensive civilian destruction and the difficulty of assessing military effectiveness.
