French Dassault Ouragan Fighter
The Dassault Ouragan was France’s first domestically designed jet fighter to enter production and service after the Second World War. It helped rebuild French military aviation and laid groundwork for later Dassault designs. Straight wings and a nose intake placed it within the first postwar jet generation. Beyond French service, it was exported to countries including India and Israel. Designed by Marcel Dassault’s company, the MD 450 Ouragan entered French service in the early 1950s. India and Israel also operated the type, and Israeli examples saw combat in the Suez campaign. It preceded the swept-wing Mystère family in France’s postwar fighter development.
