Description

1960's Infantry

Infantry of the 1960s served amid rapid changes in automatic weapons, radios, armored transport, and helicopter support. The decade included both preparations for large conventional wars and fighting in decolonization and insurgency conflicts. The period included Vietnam, the Arab-Israeli conflicts, and numerous regional wars whose conditions differed greatly from the expected central European battlefield. An infantryman’s historical experience therefore depended on training, leadership, supply, and political circumstances as well as his weapon. American forces introduced the M 16 rifle during the decade, while Soviet-pattern Kalashnikov rifles spread widely through export and military assistance. Portable radios and lighter automatic weapons changed the equipment carried within infantry units.

A good-looking piece with a lot of little details to it. It's a nice addition to the HBG's line of Cold War units. It's got a nice solid feel to, and it should stand up well to both painting and handing during game play. It can easily be used in a number of Cold War themed skirmish games as well.
