Queen Elizabeth-Class CV

The modern British Queen Elizabeth-class carriers were designed to restore a large flight-deck capability after earlier Royal Navy carrier changes. Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales were built around operations with the F-35B short-takeoff and vertical-landing aircraft, rather than conventional catapult-launched jets. Their development reflects cooperation between shipbuilding, aviation procurement, and a modern task-group concept. Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales use ski-jump flight decks and operate F-35B short-takeoff/vertical-landing aircraft. Their aviation arrangement differs from American catapult carriers. Building two large ships restored capacity and flexibility after the smaller Invincible-class era, with helicopters supporting additional missions. HMS Queen Elizabeth was formally commissioned in 2017.
