Description

ARL-44 Heavy Tank

The ARL 44 was a French postwar heavy tank developed as the country rebuilt its armored industry after occupation. Its design combined wartime experience with industrial constraints and inherited elements, producing a vehicle quite different from the later, more modern French tank programs. It entered limited service but was not a successful long-term main battle tank. The ARL 44 is significant as a transitional industrial and military effort, not as a French tank that fought in the 1940 campaign.

French engineers combined prewar heavy-tank experience with wartime lessons and available industrial resources. Its limited production and rapidly changing postwar requirements made it a transitional design, preceding more practical French armored developments rather than defining a lasting standard.

Beautiful

I've always loved the looks of these tanks, even though they weren't all that successful. These models capture their look very well!

Awesome work and I like the size of this French tank. The fact that the French worked on them secretly during the war and it was never discovered by the Germans is very impressive. This Tank can easily take on Tiger E1's, Panther G's, Panther II's and last but not least Panther E-50s. I Highly recommend this unit.
