B-21 Stealth Strategic Bomber

Experimental prototype.

The Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider was developed as a new American low-observable strategic bomber, publicly unveiled in 2022 and first flown in 2023. Its design emphasizes penetrating modern defenses and integrating with broader military networks. The Raider name commemorates the Doolittle Raiders, connecting a new program with an earlier episode of American air power. That symbolic lineage does not make the aircraft a direct technical descendant of the B-25. Its actual significance lies in modern strategic aviation requirements and the continuing integration of low observability with long-range weapons delivery. Northrop Grumman developed the aircraft for the United States Air Force under the Long Range Strike Bomber program. Its flying-wing form follows an established American low-observable bomber design tradition.
