Caliphate Saeqeh Fighter

Saeqeh is an Iranian fighter development drawing visibly on the Northrop F-5 family. Publicly presented aircraft incorporated changes such as a twin-tail arrangement, while remaining connected to the older airframe lineage. The most visible distinguishing feature is the twin-tail arrangement in place of the F-5’s single vertical tail. Iran’s experience sustaining American-origin aircraft after 1979 provided the wider industrial background. The Saeqeh demonstrates the continued adaptation of aircraft already available within Iran’s air force. Public photographs document its external configuration, but detailed claims about internal equipment and performance vary between accounts. Its history is best grounded in that visible F-5 lineage and Iran’s attempts to maintain domestic aviation capability.
