AVIC Dark Sword Drone

Unbuilt proposal.

AVIC’s Dark Sword has appeared publicly as a Chinese advanced uncrewed-aircraft concept, associated with high-speed and low-observable design ideas. Publicly displayed models and imagery do not establish a proven operational aircraft or verified performance. Advanced concept models often communicate a desired future role before every engineering problem has been solved. Dark Sword’s appearance can therefore be discussed as a design idea without assigning unverified speed, autonomy, or weapons. A model appeared at the Zhuhai air show in 2006. Its swept aerodynamic shape and prominent intake encouraged discussion of an uncrewed combat aircraft optimized for different flight conditions from conventional long-endurance propeller drones. Public presentation chiefly established the concept’s existence, leaving its development status obscure.
