Description

South African Stuart Kangaroo APC

Kangaroo conversions turned existing armored vehicles into troop carriers by removing turrets or other fighting equipment and adapting the interior. Stuart light tanks could be used in this role once their value as frontline gun tanks declined. South African armored forces operating with the Allies employed a variety of American-origin vehicles. Turret removal reduced weight and opened space, while the surviving hull armor gave passengers protection unavailable in an ordinary truck. Stuart conversions could also serve as reconnaissance or command vehicles, so a turretless Stuart was not automatically a standardized troop carrier in every army. Such conversions illustrate the reuse of tanks after their original fighting role became less suitable.

Wonderfully accurate & durable composition make this a splendid addition of 'North African Campaign' inclusion! Well, not truly hearing/knowing for its particulars, until now, then, it looks quite 'fanciful' as early 'A.P.C.'-!
