T30 Heavy Tank

The American T30 was an experimental heavy tank developed during the Second World War as part of a group of large vehicles intended to meet demanding fortified and armored targets. Its large-caliber gun and heavy turret imposed substantial loading and handling requirements. Development continued after the war, but it did not become an operational production tank. Its history belongs to testing and changing heavy-tank requirements, not to combat in the European or Pacific campaigns. Its 155mm gun required large ammunition and imposed substantial handling demands on the crew. Prototype testing continued after the war, but production was not adopted. The project remained experimental.
